Routine testing could save your life
If you are aged 25-74 and have a cervix, you can have a healthcare provider collect your screening sample or collect your own. Both are simple and equally effective. The sample is taken from the vagina, using a simple swab which is then checked for human papillomavirus (HPV).
Why is it important?
The test detects the presence of HPV, a common infection that shows no obvious symptoms and can cause cells in the cervix to turn cancerous. HPV causes almost all cervical cancers.
Should I have a cervical screening test?
Anyone with a cervix, aged between 25 and 74, is eligible. You can have a healthcare provider collect your sample or collect your own. Both options are safe, simple, and effective.
